The Art of Storytelling: Process Post
As I have had the ability to develop West Coast Design Elements more, the idea of storytelling has become more relevant in my attempt to develop content. I recently reflected on the past lecture that addressed storytelling near the end of February, and realized how much storytelling actually effects my work. Being that I am not a professional interior designer- rather just a girl with a passion- I often reach out and look at similar interior design blogs like All Sorts Of, Apartment Therapy, and Design Hunters for inspiration of content to post. I find it really helpful and inspiring to read and learn from these different blog pieces. A lot of these blogs are female run, and feature articles speaking about how these women got their start, and how passion turned to business. I also find that I am captivated by these stories, and my passion for interior design is constant reaffirmed. To me, that is the power of successful storytelling; to be able to captivate your readers and make them feel inspired and driven.
I want my blog to create the same feeling for my readers that I feel when I read a powerful article. I want my articles and stories to inspire my readers and make them think about what I’ve said after they have left my page. Because my blog features many DIY projects that anyone can do, my goal is to be able to create content that is relatable, easy, and sparks creativity. I come from a space of trial and error, and hope that this allows my readers to feel safe and free to try my ideas. I want people to have fun interior design, and to be inspired by what’s around them. I want to share with readers what has inspired me and why interior design is my passion. Overall, I think that the ability to tell a story and connect with your audience can make an okay blog a great blog. Anyone can write about something, but there is an importance in the ability to captivate and move your readers through your written content. My hopes for West Coast Design Elements is to be able to connect with my readers through my posts.
