DIY Hanging Desk
After moving into my apartment, I realized two things: 1) That buying furniture is really expensive, and 2) It is important to buy furniture that takes up as little amount of space as possible. Feeling a little worried as my small apartment still needed a desk for me to do my work at, I stumbled across this cute hanging desk that I could totally make myself! The best part about this desk is that it does not require much room at all, and is really inexpensive to make! Here’s how I did it.
I started by going to Home Depot and buying a 4×12 piece of wood. You can pick any size of wood, this size happened to be as big as I need. I then picked a dark wood stain that matched other furniture in my apartment, and painted my piece of wood. Once it was dry and polished, I then drilled two holes in the ends of the wood and screwed fasteners into the end. I found inexpensive cables that I attached to the fasteners and to the top of my wall, and mounted my wood. As an extra step, I drilled a few hinges to the underside of the hanging wood to prevent the desk from moving, and that was it! This project took me an afternoon to do and cost roughly $40! It was cheap, easy, and looks really good! Give it a try yourself and be sure to tag me in your finished project!
